Schedule 2 of the Identification Legislation Amendment Act 2011 inserted a new section, Section 34 into the Oaths Act 1900. This new section which commenced on 30 April 2012 require an authorised witness to take prescribed steps to identify a person making a statutory declaration or affidavit and certify that those steps have been taken. The prescribed steps are set out in the Oaths Regulation 2011 which also commences on 30 April 2012. See the schedule here.
